Is this a vertical antenna, so I think that's long 8 2 / 3 feet. Either one quarter wavelength at 27 MHz, where the band is CB.

You may have a role in loading and to shorten the physical length.

Bases on the vertical is that in reality only half of the antenna. If you are an antenna, 1 / 4 wave on the surface will work best if you have 1 / 4 wave at or below the surface of the earth. With the type of antennas that keep up with a magnet on the roof of the car, the car behaves as the artificial soil. If you are not connected to a car, you can replace the floor with the cables, about 8 feet 9 inches, as long as you can handle, but initially at least four directions would be helpful. The grounding cable must be part of the antenna, so it must be connected to the screen of the coaxial cable. I tried to not work the way the line with this type of connection, and has, so at least I left with a connection to socket (SO-239) by radioIf the party is not connected to the central point.

The OS-239 has a connection type to live outside of radio, and a needle protruding from the other side .. This pin is what the soul of the coaxial cable is connected to A. Outside, on the other side of the insulation, the shield connection. This is the simplest way I can to think of a connection to the land side of the antenna without having to actually deal with the antenna.

Should be banned. Just run a cable to ant. Floor installation on the floor of the radio.
